That 2008 server room flood in Minneapolis taught me to label every damn cable
I was a junior tech when the AC line burst at 2AM, water dripping right onto the patch panel, so I spent 4 hours tracing unlabeled wires with a tone generator while the boss yelled from home, and now I label everything with colored tape before I even plug it in, anyone else got a disaster story that changed their setup routine?

Skip the labels, just use a marker and write on the jacket near the plug. Color tape fades, peels off, and drives you nuts when you gotta redo it anyway.

Marker ink rubs off on your hands after a while, so how do you keep the writing readable when the cables get yanked and coiled?
