Rant: I told a customer their 'dead' drive was unrecoverable, then a $30 USB adapter proved me wrong
Client brought in a 2019 Seagate that wouldn't spin up and I quoted them $900 at a clean room in Dallas. Turns out the SATA board had a shorted TVS diode, swapped it with a donor and the thing mounted fine, cost me 20 minutes and a lot of crow. Anyone else keep a stash of donor boards for this exact mess?
