Used to fight with my old Kirby Morgan regulator for 20 minutes getting it seated right

Switched to a used Apeks setup I found for $350 on Craigslist last spring and it seals first try every time now. Anyone else stick with one brand for way too long before finally switching?

That "fighting for 20 minutes" part hit home. I read an article last year about how divers stick with gear way past its prime just because it's familiar, and I was guilty of that for years with my old Oceanic regs. Switched to a cheap used Apeks set from a buddy and it seats perfect every time too. Makes you wonder how many good dives we missed out on when we could have saved the headache for less cash.

Buddy of mine had the same thing with his fins. Held onto them way too long.
