I finally cleared a blocked valve on a Kirby Morgan 37 with a zip tie

Had a job last week in the Gulf off Galveston where my exhaust valve was sticking open. Kept getting water in the helmet. I was about to call it and surface, but the tender tossed me a zip tie. I threaded it through the valve slot, wiggled it back and forth, and cleared a piece of shell grit in about 30 seconds. Anyone else ever rigged a quick fix like that on a hat?

Used a zip tie on a 37 once too, cleared a stuck inlet valve in five seconds flat.

A 37 wouldn't have an inlet valve though.
