That $12 backing board alternative saved my long boxes from bowing
Back in March I got tired of my cheap long boxes sagging in the middle. Every 2 months I'd flip through and the boards would bend at the edges. Forks, a few locals swear by cutting those thin plastic ceiling tiles to size. Zero flex now and my mid-90s X-Men run stays flat. Anyone else use non-standard backing material or am I just cheap?

My own long boxes are a perfect example of why not to trust my judgment, since I once used corrugated cardboard cut from old moving boxes and ended up with a bend so bad that my Uncanny X-Men 266 now looks like a gentle wave. That ceiling tile trick sounds like genius level stuff compared to my method, which I call the "hope and gravity" system. I did finally break down and buy some of those hard plastic dividers at a convention, but my cheap streak kicked in and I only did the bottom half of the box. Now the top half sags just enough to make me question every life choice that led me to storing 300 comics in a flimsy cardboard coffin. So yeah, I'm with you on the non-standard stuff, mainly because I'm too stubborn to pay for the real deal twice.
