Shelled out $60 for a set of variant covers that ended up being worth less than the face value

I saw the hype online and grabbed a full set of those foil Batman variants from my local shop, thinking they'd skyrocket. Turns out everyone and their brother bought them, and now they're sitting in dollar bins. Anyone else get burned chasing the variant cover craze?

And here I thought I was being clever buying the whole set instead of picking and choosing. Now I've got a lovely collection of very shiny, very worthless placemats for my coffee table. Guess the real variant was "buyer's remorse" and it was the most common pull of all.

Wait, $60? For a full set of variant covers that ended up in dollar bins? That's brutal man, I feel your pain but also that's a hard lesson to learn. I jumped on the foil hype train once with a Ghost Rider variant and now it's basically a coaster on my desk.
