Remember when comic fans actually talked to each other in stores?
I was at my local shop back in 2017, standing in line for a new issue, and this guy behind me started ranting about how the old X-Men comics were better. I just nodded along, but then he got loud and started arguing with the clerk over a variant cover price. The whole line got awkward real quick. I ended up just putting my comic down and walking out because I didn't want to deal with the tension. Ever notice how online forums have made in-store chatter more heated than it used to be?

Ugh, I feel you so hard on this. It's like people bring that weird competitive energy from online arguments straight into the store and forget basic social skills. I've totally seen that exact thing happen where someone thinks they're the gatekeeper of what's "real" comics and just ruins the vibe for everyone. Honestly, half the time I just grab my pull list and get out as fast as I can now. It's a bummer because those random chats used to be the best part of the whole experience.
