Overheard a guy at my LCS say he only reads comics for the variant covers
He told me he hasn't actually read a full issue since 2019, he just buys 3 or 4 covers of each book for their resale value, and it made me wonder if I'm the weird one for actually caring about the story over the art on the outside.

Wait, you ran into a guy who treats comics like they're Funko Pops with staples? I actually get it a little cause I used to chase variants too until my longboxes started looking like a museum of covers I never read. What snapped me out of it was picking up a random back issue of Immortal Hulk for like a buck - that run hooked me bad because the story had guts, not just a pretty picture on top. Now I limit myself to grabbing one cover I like per series and actually digging into the words, and honestly the books feel way more worth my time and shelf space.
