My uncle told me to stop buying single issues and just wait for the trade

He said it back in 2018 when I was spending about $40 a month on floppies. I ignored him for a year, then my local shop closed and I had huge gaps in my runs. I finally switched to trades and graphic novels last year. Now my collection is actually readable and I saved a ton of cash. Has anyone else made this switch and found it better for actually keeping up with stories?

Oh man, the part about huge gaps in your runs hits way too close to home. I tried keeping up with a couple Marvel books a few years back and my pull list was a mess of missing issues, it was a whole thing. Switched to waiting for the collected paperbacks and it's just less stress, you know? I still grab a single if the cover is really cool, but my wallet and my bookshelf are both way happier now.

Isn't it funny how we've all started doing this with so many things now? I used to feel like I had to watch every episode of a show the night it aired or I'd fall behind. Now I just wait until the whole season is out and watch it at my own pace. Same with book series, I'll wait for all three to be published before I start the first one. It feels less like homework and more like a treat you can actually enjoy.

Waiting for everything to drop is the only way I can enjoy shows now.
