Got three in a row once and started wondering if I was secretly a coffee savant or something. Machine must have been feeling generous that day because next visit it was back to its usual burnt dishwater routine. Now I just assume any gas station espresso is gonna taste like regret and hope for the best.

Used to think maybe I just had bad luck with those machines, but your story makes me think they're just all kind of a gamble.
