Update: spindle speed sensor died mid-job at a shop in Tulsa last month
We were running a 60-part batch on our older Haas, and about part 18 the spindle started throwing random tool wear alarms. I spent 2 hours chasing offsets and rechecking holders, then finally noticed the RPM readout was jumping around. Turns out the sensor bracket had vibrated loose and was reading half speed, which made the machine think everything was cutting too fast. I've seen this happen once before on a different machine but never caught it that early. What do you guys use to keep those brackets tight, thread locker or a secondary clamp setup?

Man, that's a classic sneaky one. I've had sensors wiggle loose on me more times than I care to count, and it always messes with your head before you spot it. Thread locker works, but I always throw a safety wire on mine too, just as a backup. Better to spend ten minutes doing that than lose another day chasing ghosts. Maybe it's just me, but once a bracket has vibrated loose once, it'll do it again.
