My $300 touch probe finally paid for itself last Tuesday
Been running CNCs since 2003 and always set tools the old way with paper and a jog. Picked up a used touch probe for 300 bucks off a retiring machinist, thought it was a waste. Last Tuesday I had a repeat job with 22 tools and the setup time dropped from 45 minutes to 12. That probe worked fine until the battery died mid-shift, which cost me an hour of head scratching. Just ordered spare batteries and a second holder for the other machine. Anyone else still using the paper method out of habit or is that just me?
