The solar panel installers in my town keep putting them on north-facing roofs

It cuts their output by over 40% and makes the whole project a waste, I see it on at least two houses a week. Has anyone else noticed this happening where you live?

Ugh, probably just the cheapest, easiest roof to work on.

Tell me about it. My own roof is a total patchwork mess of leftover shingles from three different jobs. Looks like a quilt made by someone who hated the homeowner. Every time it rains I just laugh. At least it was cheap.

Is there some kind of rule or permit thing making them do that? I see it around here too and it drives me nuts. It feels like such a waste of money and materials. You'd think the installers would know better or at least tell the homeowner.
