Put $500 into solar panels for my roof and it paid off in 18 months
Honestly, I was skeptical at first but I threw $500 on two 100-watt panels from Renogy and hooked them up to a basic inverter for my workshop. My electric bill dropped about $30 a month since I run my lights and radio off them during the day. Has anyone else here tried a DIY setup like this and actually seen savings?

Oh sure, let me just go drill holes in my roof and hope I don't create a new indoor waterfall. That $500 savings sounds real cozy until you're up there trying to figure out which wire goes where.

Whoa, calm down. It's not that hard. You don't drill into the roof, you mount them on racks or ground-mount them. I wired mine up in an afternoon with a YouTube video.
