My electrician buddy told me to ditch the gas mower, and my July power bill proved him right
Back in March my friend Dave, who does commercial electrical work, kept bugging me to swap my old gas mower for a battery one. I blew him off for a while because I figured the upfront cost was not worth it and I liked my mower fine. Then in July my neighbor's gas mower died in the middle of his lawn during that 98 degree stretch in Sacramento, and he had to pay a kid $60 to finish it. Meanwhile I mowed twice a week on one charge and my electric bill only went up about $9 for the entire hot stretch. Now I'm wondering if I should push my dad to switch too, or if there are other small swaps like this that actually pay off faster than people claim?
