Composting in my 20s vs now, what a difference 15 years makes

Back in 2008 I had this tiny wire bin in my Philly backyard, just tossed in grass clippings and coffee grounds, took almost a year to get anything usable. These days I've got a tumbler that I spin every couple days, got rich dark soil in about 6 weeks last fall. Anyone else notice how much faster the newer bins break stuff down, or is it just my patience wearing thin?
