Museum late nights beat full-price tickets in Austin, hands down

Tried the Blanton Museum's free Thursday evening last month after paying $15 for a Saturday visit twice. Same exhibits, barely any crowd, and I actually read the wall text instead of shuffling behind strangers. Do other cities have these late-night freebies that I've been sleeping on?
