Showerthought: A guy at a supply house in Denver told me to stop vacuuming after every seam, and I finally tried it
I was picking up a roll of tack strip at a supply house off I-25 in Denver when this older installer started watching me load. He asked how many passes I was doing with the vacuum after seaming and I said three or four, plus a final once over before I leave. He laughed and said I was wasting 20 minutes per room and actually pulling grit into the latex. I thought he was full of it. But last Tuesday I had a 40 yard stretch in a basement in Aurora and I was running behind, so I tried his way. One pass after the seam cooled, then a light pass at the end. The seam looked tighter than my usual work and I saved almost an hour. I still vacuum the edges good because that's where the fuzz hides, but man, I've been doing it the hard way for 11 years. Anybody else cut back on vacuum passes or am I late to this?
