Rant: Hit 10,000 square feet installed this month and my knees are screaming
I finally hit 10,000 square feet installed this month across 8 jobs, and honestly I don't know if I should be proud or pissed. My body is wrecked from crawling around on subfloors and kneeling on tack strips for 12 hour days. The last job was a 1,500 footer in an old house with a concrete slab that had a half inch dip in the middle. Had to glue down the whole thing and my back still hurts just thinking about it. My helper quit last week because he said the money wasn't worth the pain, and now I'm stuck solo. Anyone else hit a milestone like this and feel like the trade is just grinding you down instead of building you up?

Yeah hitting those numbers feels good on paper but your body pays the price. What saved me was switching to knee pads with hard caps and using a drywall stilts setup for large open areas instead of crawling everywhere. Also started bringing a floor roller on a long handle so I'm not hunched over for glue-down jobs.

...and the long handle roller is the real game changer nobody talks about. I added a little foam grip to mine, makes a world of difference on those 12 hour days. The stilts thing is smart too, I only use them for glue down but I bet it saves your knees big time on the big commercial stuff.
