Last Tuesday I was laying 40 yards of plush in a master suite over on Maple Ave. The knee pad slipped on the tackstrip and the whole head snapped back, hit me right in the shin. Bruise is the size of a fist now. I checked the pins after, two of them were bent pretty bad from a rental unit I grabbed. Has anyone else had a used stretcher fail on them like that, or do you just buy new heads outright?
Man that bent pin thing is exactly what got me too, I had a rental head that looked fine till I put real tension on it and then one pin let go and the whole thing came back at me. Now I check the pins with a straight edge before I even string it up, takes ten seconds and saves your shins. Buying new heads is worth it if you stretch a lot because rentals get beat to death and nobody ever checks them. Mine walked off the wall on a seam and I ate the tail end of the handle right in the ribs, hurt for a week. If those pins are bending you need to toss that head, once they start to go they keep going.
