Shoutout to the old guy at the lumberyard who saved my whole week
I was building a set of built-in shelves for a client in Greenville and completely messed up my miter cuts on some expensive walnut. This guy named Frank saw me staring at the scrap pile and showed me a trick with a block plane and a shooting board to save the pieces. He spent twenty minutes walking me through it, and I got the joints perfect. Has anyone else had a stranger just step in and fix a project like that?

Used to think asking for help was a sign you didn't know your trade. An old timer at a supply house once showed me a better way to strip a tricky wire, and it changed my mind completely. That kind of knowledge is pure gold.

My buddy was ready to scrap a whole sheet of plywood after his track saw went off line. This retired cabinetmaker at the hardware store saw the panic, grabbed a chalk line, and showed him how to snap a new guide and salvage the cut. Guy just had that lifetime of know-how in his back pocket, you know? Saved the project and taught my friend a trick he uses every day now.
