Hot take: My $20 Japanese pull saw is my new favorite tool for scribing baseboard
I was fitting some tricky pieces against an old stone foundation and it gave me way more control than a coping saw. Anyone have a different go-to for scribing weird walls?

Why not just use a sharp utility knife?

You're right a sharp knife would work, but I've had the blade slip off tough materials like thick plastic clamshell packaging. A dedicated tool with a hooked blade lets you pull towards yourself with more control, so you're less likely to slice into the product inside.
