Got a bowed 2x10 to sit flat by cutting a relief kerf on the crown side
Had a 12 foot pressure treated 2x10 for a deck rim joist that cupped about 3/8 inch over its length. I ran a circular saw down the crown side about an inch deep every 16 inches, then blocked it flat overnight with a couple of concrete pavers. Next morning it pulled down within 1/8 inch and the joists hung fine. I know a lot of guys would just send it back to the yard, but this was the last straight-ish one in the stack at the place on Delmar. Anyone got a better fix for cupped stock, or do you just eat the trip back to the yard?
