I always thought job hopping looked bad on a resume. Then my buddy showed me his offer letter.

I used to think staying put at one place for years showed loyalty and that’s what employers wanted. But my friend from my old store in Austin jumped jobs three times in two years and just got a senior manager role paying $78k. I mean, he explained that each move got him a 15-20% raise and new skills, while I’m sitting here with the same title for 4 years getting 3% bumps. So I finally updated my resume and applied to two places last month. Has anyone else seen better results from switching jobs instead of sticking around?

Did you actually get any callbacks from the two places you applied to? Curious if the jump actually worked out for you or if the market is tougher than your friend made it seem.

Man, honestly I heard crickets after sending those applications. Like not even a "thanks but no thanks" email, just silence. Feels a bit like shouting into a void, you know? My friend made it sound like jobs were just falling off trees, but I guess the tree was in a different forest. Pretty sure my resume ended up in some digital trash bin about 5 minutes after I hit submit.
