Update: I spent 5 hours trying to figure out why a post got flagged, and the reason made me rethink the whole thing
So last month I posted a photo of my kid's birthday cake on my neighborhood Facebook group, just a normal cake in the shape of a fish, and within an hour I got a message saying it had been removed for "violating community standards." I figured it was a glitch, so I appealed it, and then I waited. Two days went by with no answer, so I sent another appeal, then another, and by day four I was on the phone with a support rep who had no idea what I was even talking about. It took 5 full hours of digging through help pages, old forum posts, and one very confusing email chain before I finally found out the flag came from an automated system that saw the word "hook" in my caption about fishing and matched it to some banned content list. Nobody ever looked at the actual picture. The part that got me was how fast the whole thing moved, one bot decision, no person, and suddenly my post was gone along with a little note that made me look like I did something awful. My neighbor saw the removal note before I even knew what happened and asked me at the mailbox if everything was okay, which was its own kind of embarrassing. Has anyone else had a totally harmless post get swept up by an auto flag and then spent way too long trying to prove you did nothing wrong?
