That time my old high school tried to cancel me for a joke I made 12 years ago

I was scrolling through Facebook last Tuesday when a message from a former classmate popped up saying my senior yearbook quote was 'problematic' and they wanted the school to publicly denounce it. The quote was literally just 'I put the pro in procrastination' from a meme we all laughed at back then. How do you even defend a 12 year old joke without sounding like a jerk?

Is it just me or does it feel like we've all gotten so worried about being perfect online that we forgot people used to be allowed to be goofy without it being a character flaw?
