My tiny book club win after a local news article blew up our group
We meet at the Bean Counter Cafe on 3rd Street every other Wednesday. About 3 months ago a local paper ran a piece calling us a 'safe space for problematic takes' which was total nonsense, we just read old sci-fi and talk about it. Membership dropped from 12 people to 4 overnight. But last Wednesday 2 of those original members came back and said they missed the real conversation without all the online noise. Has anyone else had a small group or hobby thing survive a weird cancel moment like that?

Are you saying this whole thing made the group stronger in the end? Because it sounds like the people who left were just there for the drama, not the books.

Used to think cancel culture was overblown but your story just changed my whole perspective on it.
