Water filter froze solid on an overnight trip, now I question the whole category
Took my Sawyer mini up to the Adirondacks last month and left it in the tent overnight, temp dropped to 18 degrees and the thing was a solid ice brick by morning. I cracked the housing trying to thaw it with body heat and had to boil water for the rest of the 2 day hike. Is a freeze-resistant filter worth the extra weight, or do we all just accept this flaw and plan around it?
