Switched my sleeping pad setup after a rainy night at Lost Lake
For years I just used a basic foam pad (you know, the blue ones from Walmart) and figured that was good enough. Then last summer at Lost Lake in Oregon I woke up at 2am in a puddle because the ground was uneven and my pad shifted. I switched to a Klymit Static V pad for $45 and man, the difference in comfort and insulation is night and day. Anyone else have a gear switch that saved them from a miserable night?

Oh man, same thing happened to me with a cheap pad.

Oh geez, yeah that brings back memories. I tried the whole "cheap foam pad is fine" thing for like two years until I woke up in Vermont with a rock poking me right in the kidney. My back was so mad at me the next morning I could barely pack up my tent. The Klymit is a solid choice though, I still keep mine as a backup for car camping. Nothing like a wet butt at 2am to make you rethink your life choices.
