Why does nobody talk about the lost skill of calibrating a leaf shutter by ear?

Tell me honestly, what killed the need for calibrating by ear?

Remember when we all had to tune guitars using just a pitch pipe or a single reference note? For me, it was digital tuners that showed the exact frequency on a little screen. Then auto-tune plugins in recording software just locked everything to perfect pitch visually. It became faster and more precise to fix a vocal track by looking at a waveform than spending hours listening and guessing. The tech just got so good and cheap that trusting your ear felt like a slow, shaky alternative.

I read an interview with a studio engineer who said visual feedback from software made ear training seem optional. @susana66, the real shift happened when producers could fix pitch between takes without even listening back. It turned tuning into a quick edit instead of a skill you had to practice for years.
