I used to clean mirror box sensors with canned air until a Leica M6 came in with a scratch from a tiny piece of grit. Now I ONLY use a static brush and a loupe, every single time.

Wait, how bad was this scratch anyway? I've gotten some deep ones that looked awful but just needed a bandage. Unless Lucas_bell needed actual stitches or something, maybe it's not worth being that careful forever. People get small cuts all the time and they're fine.

Yeah, that "so careful now" thing is real. I see it all the time, like my friend who got one bad paper cut from an envelope and now opens all his mail with scissors. A single bad experience can totally rewrite your rules for everything.
