Wasted $85 on a lawyer who didn't even read my file

Hired a workers comp attorney in Bakersfield after my shoulder injury. Found out 3 months later during a settlement call he kept mixing up my case with someone else's. Anyone else have a lawyer blow off details like that?

...and that's exactly what happened to my friend Sarah in Fresno. She hired a family lawyer for her custody case and halfway through a hearing he called her by the ex's new girlfriend's name, totally mixed up. She ended up having to fire him and start over, wasted almost two grand before finding someone who actually took notes.

Did that lawyer also show up to court with his shirt on backwards or was he just gonna wing it from there? I mean, calling your client by the wrong name in a custody hearing is a special kind of fail, like showing up to a job site with the wrong crew and wondering why nobody's got a hammer. Two grand down the drain because a guy couldn't be bothered to write "Sarah" on a sticky note. Maybe her ex's girlfriend was paying him extra to mess up, who knows at this point.
