I waited 9 months to tell my adjuster about my back pain, now I'm hearing I should have reported it on day one
When I hurt my back lifting a water heater in Stockton back in 2022, I figured it was just a strain and kept working through it, since I had bills and didn't want to rock the boat with my boss. I finally told my doctor about it 9 months later when the pain started shooting down my leg, and he wrote me off work for 3 weeks. Now I hear two totally different things from folks in this community. One side says you have to report every ache on day one because the insurance company will use any delay to say it wasn't work related. The other side says most people push through pain for months and the adjuster should look at the whole picture, not just the first report. My claim got denied in April and the letter literally said late reporting was a factor. So which is it, do you tell your boss about every twinge right away, or is that a good way to get labeled a problem employee? Would really like to hear from anyone in the Sacramento area who dealt with a delay denial.
