The day I did a cable install inside a chicken coop and nearly got pecked to death

I was running a line out to a customer's new shed in rural Ohio last spring and they insisted the best route went right through their 30-bird chicken coop, and after 20 minutes of dodging beaks and stepping in droppings I realized I should start asking customers about livestock before I even pull up to the property.

Learned that one the hard way with a buddy's beehive setup. Now I ask about dogs, cats, chickens, everything before I even open the van. Saves a lot of running and swearing.

Seems like a lot of fuss over some chickens. A few pecks and some messy boots don't sound that bad compared to other job site hazards I've dealt with. People act like a couple of birds are some major threat when really you just need to watch where you step and move a little faster.

Man that's a solid point. I've seen guys get all worked up over a few chickens when they've got exposed nails and loose boards everywhere else. It's like pick your battles, you know? I get why people don't like them on site, but compared to some of the stuff I've stepped in or nearly fallen into, a little bird poop is nothing. Props to you for keeping it in perspective.
