I used to think pocket holes were the only way to build a drawer box

I was building a set of kitchen drawers for a client in Springfield last week, and I had the sides all drilled and ready. I went to glue up the first one and the whole thing twisted on me, the front panel was way out of square. I had to stop, take it all apart, and re-cut the pieces. I switched to using a simple rabbet joint with glue and brad nails instead, and the next three went together perfectly straight. Has anyone else had a drawer fight back like that and changed their method?

Way out of square" - did you check your jig setup first?

Honestly, could be the stock itself. I've had boards that were bowed or twisted right out of the pack, and no jig in the world will fix that. You can check it with a straight edge along the length. If it's not flat, you're fighting a losing battle from the start.
