Found out my Festool dust extractor was way underpowered for my router

I was getting so much dust blowing past my router table fence last month that I figured the extractor was just junk. Turns out I was running it with the wrong hose diameter the whole time. I found a spec sheet on Festool's site that showed the flow rate drops by 40% if you use a 36mm hose instead of the 27mm one with certain tools. Checked my setup and sure enough I had the wrong size. Has anyone else missed little stuff like that on their dust collection gear?

Hell yeah, I've been there. It's frustrating when you think your gear is junk and it's just a dumb little setup thing. So you had the bigger hose on there? That's wild that a bigger opening actually chokes the flow that bad. Did you notice if the dust extractor was making a different sound with the wrong hose, like it was struggling or something? I'm wondering now if I should check my own setup, I just grabbed whatever hose fit.

Bet your dust extractor was singing a sad song right before you fixed it.
