Found out my wood stove pipe was 2 inches from my ceiling joists, and I only checked after my dog kept staring at the wall
Last month at my place outside Boone my beagle kept parking himself in front of the wall behind the stove and sniffing, so I finally pulled the ceiling panel off and saw the pipe sitting about 2 inches from a dry joist with char lines starting to show. I had run that stove two full winters without ever looking up there because the install crew said it was fine. How many of you have actually put your own eyes on the clearance behind the wall, not just trusted whoever did the install?
