The $90 boot dryer that died after 14 months, and I'm mad about it

Bought a fancy boot dryer last January for my work boots and it just quit on a rainy Tuesday, motor still spinning but zero heat after 14 months. The cheap $25 one I had before lasted 6 years, so is the premium brand just marketing or did I get a lemon, anyone else have this issue?

Had the same thing happen with a name brand dryer a few years back. What worked for me was taking it apart and finding the heating element had a broken wire right where it connected to the power cord. Soldered it back and it ran for another two years. Worth opening it up before you toss it, just unplug it first and look for loose connections. If it's not that, check if the thermal fuse popped, those are like five bucks online. Most of these dryers are basically the same guts inside cheap plastic shells, so the premium price usually goes into the housing and marketing. Your old cheap one probably had a simpler design that was harder to break.
