Dumb cargo net saved my tailgate 2 years in

Picked up a 15 dollar cargo net at an auto parts store in Phoenix after my tailgate got scratched by sliding camping gear. Two years of hauling firewood, coolers, and a muddy mountain bike later, the net still holds everything tight. The rubber hooks stretched a bit but they snap back on the pins no problem. My buddy's bungee cord setup ripped his paint off in one season. For the price, it outlasted every expensive bed liner I've owned. Anyone else find cheap accessories that beat the fancy stuff?

That net sounds like a winner. Reminds me of the time I used a pool noodle cut in half and zip tied to the rack crossbars on my old truck to stop canoe straps from wearing through the paint. Worked so good I forgot it was even there for almost a year. Ended up leaving it on when I sold the truck, guy probably thought it was some kind of factory aero thing. Cheap fix, zero regrets. My one fancy bed mat with the raised edges? That thing slid around like a skating rink from day one. Sometimes the dumb ideas are the ones that stick.
