PSA: hit 41 employees and found out I'm suddenly a different kind of business owner
I crossed 41 employees at my print shop in Boise back in March and nobody warned me what happens at that number. Once you pass 40, a pile of federal rules kick in that never applied before, and my payroll lady had to sit me down and explain it. I was flying blind for two weeks before she caught it. If you're sitting at 35 or 38 right now, go check the rules before you hire that next person, because it is not the same game on the other side. Anybody else get blindsided by a headcount threshold like this?
