A surprise after hours message that flipped my thinking on time rules

In my experience, I was set on having all my staff clock in at 9 AM sharp. Your mileage may vary, but one night, I got a message from a team member with a great idea, sent at 11 PM. Take this with a grain of salt, but I saw that some people are just sharper late at night. I decided to test letting people pick their own hours, as long as tasks were done. For example, now if someone wants to start later, they can, and we focus on weekly goals. I used to worry this would cause mess, but it actually helped things run smoother. This change has helped us get more done and keeps everyone happier. It was a big shift for me, but now I see the value in flexibility.

You mentioned some people are sharper late at night. How did you figure out who those people were without just guessing?

Wait what? You don't just guess, you literally ask them or notice when they send their best ideas. Honestly it's not some big mystery, people will tell you if they're a night person. Tbh I figured it out because the same three folks would always post the smartest replies after midnight.
