A retired guy at my gym told me to charge 15% more, and I lost 2 clients but gained 3 better ones
Six months ago I was complaining to this retired contractor at my gym about a client who paid late on a $2,400 job and nickel and dimed me the whole time. He said, plain as anything, "raise your prices and the cheap ones fire themselves." I thought he was full of it but I tried it on new quotes anyway, and two old clients walked. Thing is, the three people who said yes to the higher number have paid on time every single time and never once argued about the invoice. Turns out the price was doing the filtering for me the whole time and I never saw it. Anybody else had a price bump backfire, or did yours shake out like mine?
