Just realized my 'ride or die' was only riding for herself

Last weekend my friend Dana from Portland called me out of nowhere after 8 months of silence. She said I was 'too intense' about asking her to split the $340 hotel bill we agreed on for a trip she bailed on last minute. It hit different because she's the one who pushed me to book it knowing I was barely scraping by with my pressure washing gig, and hearing her frame my basic request as some kind of character flaw made me see the whole friendship differently. Has anyone else had an old friend rewrite the story so they look like the victim, and did you ever get closure or just let it die?
