Trying to make a simple weekly spread turned into a two hour mess

I wanted to draw a clean grid for next week's tasks, just some straight lines. My ruler slipped, the pen bled, and I had to start over on a fresh page. That one mistake cost me about 120 minutes of redoing everything by hand. Has anyone found a good trick for keeping lines straight without needing perfect tools?

Ever tried taping the ruler down with washi tape, or is that just me?

Washi tape is for decoration, not holding down a ruler.

Seriously, two hours over some lines? That feels like a lot of time for a weekly planner. Maybe just roll with the crooked ones and call it character.
