Rant: Tried a new lumber yard in Austin and got totally gaslit at the counter

I went to Texas Timber Supply off I-35 yesterday to pick up some 2x4s for a shed I'm building. The guy at the counter told me their price was $4.50 per board, but when I got to the register it jumped to $6.75. He just shrugged and said 'that's the market rate' like I was dumb for asking. Anyone else run into shady pricing at a yard that seemed fine at first?

Yeah that kind of thing drives me nuts. Reminds me of going to a place near my folks place where they quoted me one price over the phone and then tried to tack on a "handling fee" when I showed up. Did you at least get them to honor the original price or did you just walk?
