Damn right you said something. That cornea story from @bensingh is no joke, I've seen guys get metal shavings and concrete dust in their eyes and it shuts them down for days. Goggles are ten bucks at any hardware store. If anything is spinning, cutting, or throwing chips, your eyes are not the place to test your luck. Basic rule: if it can fly, it can blind you.

My own dumb luck with goggles is why I now own safety glasses in every room.
