Am I the only one who cut a joist 3 inches short and tried to blame the tape?
Was framing a deck off the back of my place near Boise on a Saturday morning and had a load bearing beam all set. Measured 14 feet 3 times, marked it, and still cut it short somehow. Stood there staring at the gap like it would close itself. My buddy Marcus showed up with coffee, looked at my face, then at the beam, and just said "that one is on you man." So I grabbed a scrap of pressure treated 2x6 and sistered it onto the end with 3 inch structural screws, way overkill, and it has held for 2 winters now. Anyone else ever patch a screwup like that and end up trusting the patch more than the original cut?
