Spent 4 hours on a grocery budget spreadsheet that should have taken 30 minutes

I kept trying to use the fancy template from Pinterest but it was SO overcomplicated with categories I don't even buy. Ended up just writing it on notebook paper in 15 minutes and it actually works better, has anyone else wasted a ton of time on a system that just didn't fit your life?

the "fancy template from Pinterest" thing hit way too close to home. i spent a whole Saturday trying to set up one of those meal prep planners with all the color coded sections and it just made me feel stupid when i couldn't figure out where to put "half a bag of frozen peas." ended up using the notes app on my phone and it works fine, i guess my brain just doesn't do well with those super organized systems.

@victorb74 had the right idea all along, I guess. The notes app never judges me for my chaotic "half a bag of frozen peas" entries. Tried the color coded spreadsheet route once, spent more time picking highlighters than actually prepping anything. The simple stuff just works better for my brain too.

Man, have you tried just using the notes app on your phone? I was that same exact way with a budgeting app I spent hours customizing, then realized pen and paper was all I actually needed.
