My budget airline seat selection gamble left me in a middle seat for 10 hours

I always pick my seat now, even if it costs a little extra.

I took that same gamble on a flight to Vegas and got a window seat for free. Saving the extra cash feels worth it to me since I don't mind where I sit. I'd rather keep the money for something fun at my destination.

My buddy tried that last year and got trapped between two big guys who both fell asleep on him. Said it was the worst flight of his life.

My friend got lucky like @nina_johnson86 once, but another time he was stuck in a middle seat for a whole red-eye.
