I finally flew to Lisbon for $212 round trip by leaving on a Wednesday in February
Last month I booked a flight from Boston to Lisbon for $212 round trip and I still can't believe it worked. The trick was setting a Google Flights alert back in October and waiting instead of booking the first price I saw, which was $640. Every email I got showed the same thing: Tuesday and Wednesday departures in late January through early March were way cheaper than anything in spring or summer. When the price hit $212 I grabbed it within ten minutes because I knew it would jump back up. The weird part is the return leg on a Saturday cost almost double, so I flew back on a Wednesday too and took two extra vacation days. I packed one carry on and skipped the checked bag fee, which would have eaten a third of what I saved. Now I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with this same midweek thing on routes to Asia, or if the cheap days are totally different over there.
